My friend, Bonnie, gave me Dengue Fever’s “Venus on Earth” album over a year ago and I am ever so grateful she introduced me to this band.  It’s a melting pot of psychedelic rock, Cambodian 60s pop rock, and Ethiopian jazz.  I apologize for the network’s plug in the beginning of the music video, but this is a good rendition of the song.  The set-up, lighting, and overall mood of the performance reminds me so much of modern Cambodian rock bands that play in Long Beach today.  I find this band very inspiring and I can’t wait to see them live!!

The electric blue and metallic silver colors on this top caught my eye. Loves the design–it’s not too overwhelming. Just enough so that there is no need for additional accessories. It’s a consideration when having a GNO, who knows what will happen and what you’d lose if you had too many pieces contributing to the outfit. So girlies, when going out for a fun-filled evening with Mr. Alcohol and the girls make sure you don’t have to over-accessorize–you don’t want to babysit.

I love every piece in this editorial down to the bodysuit and the mummy-wrapped white stilettos. Magdelana looks gorgeous in the editorial and she’s rockin’ the Givency S/S 09 Edwardian dress!!  My favorite part of the dress is the gigantic chain neck piece that looks like it weighs as much as she does.  I bet you feel like a goddess wearing it, though.  I’m on the hunt for a beautiful chain-embellished dress, but it seems like a good DIY project if I can just get my hands on a beautiful dress and some nice chains…

Kat, Teresa (Kat’s lil sis) and I went to the Fairfax Flea Market last Sunday.  It was a really nice day to shop around, but I ran out of gas fast on my bargain hunting adventure.  It takes a lot of dedication and good haggling skills to find some amazingly inexpensive pieces there.  I almost left with nothing, but as we were on our way out, I just couldn’t stop thinking about this beautiful crochet Bali top.  It caught my eye right away, but the $60 price tag was not the usual flea market price and made me turn the other way.  Well, after fantasizing over the top I just had to get it and luckily, the seller was willing to give me a deal!!  Now it’s mine forever!

After the Fairfax Flea Market we strolled around Melrose stopping by trade-in stores like Wasteland and Crossroads.  No luck there… .  I will definitely have to set up another fun in the sun vintage shopping extravaganza with my surrogate sisters, Kat and Teresa.  .  Love!

I went on my very first acting gig today!!  It was pretty damn awesome!  I played a rocker girl at a heavy metal tailgate party (spoof on an 80s documentary), so alls I had to do was act like a drunk slut!!  It was a bit of a stretch for my acting, but I think I pulled it off well.  =)  I wore this outfit which is the same outfit I wore to the audition because the producers liked it and wanted me to wear it to the shoot.  They couldn’t have white tees on camera, so wardrobe gave me a silver cropped halter top.  The metallic halter changed my character from ‘cute rocker girl’ to ’stripper rocker girl who sleeps with the band’.  Way better!!!  I was out in the sun all day so now I’m exhausted and I have weird tan lines.  eeeek.  Either way, I had so much fun and want to do it again!!

I was a little hesitant when the boyfriend blazer became a hot fashion trend. But now…I’m sold. I like it’s versatility. It’ll look good with a pair of skinnies or a short mini dress. It would just have to be the perfect fit. The dilemma is: I’m petite. I definitely need a boyfriend blazer that I won’t look like I’m drowning in it. I’m willing to start my search for one. Happy shopping!
