The shoes at Alexander McQueen’s fall/winter 2009 collection were insane to the membrane. Talk about the platform trend multiplied by sequins, feathers, and leather. The collection was exuberant and defiant in McQueen’s dramatic style. The models were sex-dolled up in clown makeup. Poor Liu Wen had to strut the slippery catwalk with an umbrella on her head and 6-inch platform shoes.
I like platform heels and wedges because of the added height, but these are definitely ankle-breakers. I actually have a pair of mary-jane platforms I bought in the stripper section of a shoe store for a Vegas trip. Maybe I can start wearing them during the day. Or not.

the great thing about mcqueen’s heels from F09 AND S10 is that the functional heel is not that high from where the ball of the foot rests within the shoe. it’s just the physical heel and platform that are so frighteningly tall! he was a genius, and i hope sarah burton can continue his amazing work while being able to breath her own life into the label’s art
