Jason Wu: Fall 2009 RTW

Who is Jason Wu? He is made famous by designing a dress worn by Michelle Obama to the Inaugural Balls. But I want to know what he’s all about. Here are some of the pieces that appealed to me in his Fall 2009 RTW collection. Thoughts on his collection: feminine, soft, flowy, and slightly retro.

The LV Fall 09 collection designed by Marc Jacobs is beautiful.  The clothes, shoes and of course bags are coveted by many.  But, what I adore most about the collection is the hair in the cutsie wutsie ballerina buns!!  I would love to have my hair tied up and away from my face if it were in an effortless bun on the very top of my head.  I mean, even the flyaways are sexy!!  I’ve tried doing this bun look, but my hair doesn’t look as soft and clean as it is here!  I need to borrow the hair stylist from the show, but til then I’m working on it myself.  This ballerina bun would be so perfect for summer days and nights out!  I even like the bow in the shape of bunny ears on Lily Donaldson.  Lovesss.

The shoes at Alexander McQueen’s fall/winter 2009 collection were insane to the membrane. Talk about the platform trend multiplied by sequins, feathers, and leather. The collection was exuberant and defiant in McQueen’s dramatic style. The models were sex-dolled up in clown makeup. Poor Liu Wen had to strut the slippery catwalk with an umbrella on her head and 6-inch platform shoes.

I like platform heels and wedges because of the added height, but these are definitely ankle-breakers. I actually have a pair of mary-jane platforms I bought in the stripper section of a shoe store for a Vegas trip. Maybe I can start wearing them during the day. Or not.

Christophe Decarnin is the man!!  He’s also the no.1 most copied designer in the past 2 seasons.  Women crave his clothes which is selling out before it even arrives to stores.  Luckily, for those who do not have discretionary income for Balmain pieces, there are/will be knock-offs.  Let’s look like a million bucks without breaking the bank.  Decarnin’s collection for Balmain is so disco-chic-rock-glam and everything decadent.  Apparently, during a recession women still need to embody and exude gorgeousness in their clothes.  There’s nothing depressing about being sexy!

After watching The City, I just had to preview Diane Von Furstenberg’s Spring 2009 Collection. These are some of the looks I was particularly fond of. Her line is very coherent and I loving the color scheme. The splashes of yellow, red, purple, and pink are perfect for spring and summer. Kind of random but I really want the headpieces. I tried to see whether or not they were on sale, but apparently not. It reminds me of flower power and first communion.

I’ve never been too fond of ruffles but after previewing this season’s designs I must say I’m sold. It could work on me. Prior styles that included ruffles always made it look too feminine or something my grandma would wear. It’s different this season–just look through the designs! What do you think?

Hello London Fashion Week and Twenty8Twelve!  I love that Savannah and Sienna Miller’s line is perfect for every fashion forward girl who wants to wear her clothes now.  It’s clothes you probably have in your closet already and has longevity.  It’s so easy to wear and yet, has so much thought put into every outfit.  I absolutely adore the black long-sleeve with the strong shoulders and surprise opening in the back paired with those denim-like leggings.  I say, yes please!

Alexander Wang continues to create an edgy and luxe collection, but for a Wang girl grown up.  I love all the different textures and cuts, whether it be the crocodile jacket, lace top, or silver-studded pants.  The one-shoulder/cut-out mini dresses are to die for.  His jackets are tailored with a f-off, i can kick your butt and then seduce you attitude.  I especially like the cut-out leggings and hope to accomplish this look on my own pair.  The bodysuit is amazing, but I’m not sure about the hat and endless scarf look.  Regardless, Wang’s F/W 09 collection is still lust-worthy.

“Welcome to Miami

Buenvenidos a Miami ” -Will Smith 

I’m very excited about my upcoming trip to Miami. Of course, one of my main purchases is the plane ticket. Aside from that, I’ve been also thinking of what to pack. I’ve decided it’s time to get a new swimsuit for both Miami and 2009. I’ve been really wanting  a one piece but again, like the jumpsuit/romper, I havcn’t found the perfect fit yet. Plus, it might give me unnecessary tan lines.  This ANK swimsuit and cover-up is just what I need in my life.
